About the centre
Centre for Team Sport and Health is located at the Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports, University of Copenhagen and is headed by Professor Jens Bangsbo.
The centre has existed since 2012.
Our vision is to create a research center based on world-class research that will be able to provide citizens, companies, municipalities, and sports stakeholders with fundamental and practical knowledge of how public health can be improved by using team sports in a way that is socially engaging and fun."

The centre brings together multidisciplinary expertise in the area of team sports and health under one roof, with experts in research, communication and teaching. Our goal is to develop the most effective and motivational training from a health perspective, to create strategies for training recruitment and retention, and to encourage a physically active lifestyle.
Our ambition is to reach the many citizens who want to be physically active, but cannot currently find activities suited to their needs. We work in close cooperation with local authorities and sports organizations.
To succeed, the Centre for Team Sport and Health must make a significant difference to public health in Denmark by offering attractive and workable training services for municipalities, companies, sports agents and private providers. The results must include major preventive and disease treatment effects.
In order to ensure the progress of the Centre’s research activities in general and across disciplines, a steering committee has been established. The responsibility of the Steering Committee is to decide and discuss vital issues concerning finances, staffing, research development, communication with external agents, and the organization of the center’s dissemination strategy.
The Steering Committee includes the Head of Centre, Professor Jens Bangsbo, and Associate Professor Jesper Lundbye-Jensen who are in charge of the physiological section, and Associate Professor Laila Ottesen, who is in charge of the sociological/psychological section. All three are internationally-recognized researchers with proven experience in cooperation with partners outside the academic community as well as within it.
As Head of Centre, Jens Bangsbo is the head of the steering committee.
